For language sponsorship during your studies, you can discuss the options with your Next Step representative.
The time it takes to learn a language varies for each individual, so exact timelines are hard to predict. Generally, with at least 2 hours of daily study and regular classes, you could be ready for the B1 exam in 6-12 months. This includes 1 private lesson per week during A1 studies and 3 private lessons during A2 and B1. Completing B2 may take an additional 4-6 months, depending on your commitment to your studies.
Yes, passing the B1 exam with strong marks is required before you can move to Germany. Additionally, you are expected to study as much of the B2 course as possible beforehand to reduce the time needed to complete the B2 exam once in Germany. After passing the B2 exam and completing your Qualification Recognition course, you can become a Registered Skilled Worker, which allows you to earn more and stay in Germany long-term.
As a candidate responsible for your own language expenses, you have the freedom to select a school and course that suits your needs. Ensure the school is familiar with official exams recognized by the Next Step program, such as TELC, ÖSD, and Goethe. The choice to attend classes in person or online, and whether to study daily or on a more flexible schedule, depends on your personal preferences and availability.
Next Step offers a checklist to help you choose the right language school. You can access it here.
